Only Three Episodes – and Five Left on the Shelf

The most obvious change compared to last year is the length. Eight new episodes were shot over the summer, three are going on air. That leaves five produced but unaired – material ProSieben can bring out at a later point.

For comparison: season 4 ran in autumn 2025 with nine episodes, airing almost continuously on Wednesday nights between late October and mid-December. The ratings swung wildly. Between 0.15 and 0.26 million viewers tuned in, and among viewers aged 14 to 49 the market share ranged from just under four percent to a strong 9.8 percent. That spread explains the more cautious order: ProSieben is testing a three-parter instead of betting a whole autumn on a format that sometimes lands hard and sometimes disappears.

Who Is at the Table for the Premiere

Despite the title, Das Duell um die Geld has long stopped being a pure head-to-head. Joko and Klaas invite famous friends to a big game night – and for the first episode of the new season, Bastian Pastewka, Taneshia Abt and Wincent Weiss take a seat at the poker table.

That mix is typical for the format: a comedy professional with a sense of timing, a presenter with quiz experience and a musician with nothing to lose. It's exactly where the show's dynamic comes from – because bluffing at this table means reading the others first.
