The most important sentence first, because it explains the whole app: there is no betting inside the app. It shows the question, hint 1, hint 2 and the reveal – nothing else. The poker round runs offline, with your own chips, at your own table.

That is not a shortcut, it is the point. Estimation questions with poker rules get good the moment someone raises on an obviously wild guess and everyone else starts calculating whether to believe it. How a Question Works

Quizpoker plays every question with four betting rounds. The sequence is always the same:

1. Post the blinds. Small blind and big blind put in their forced bets, the app shows the question. Every second round the small blind doubles; the big blind is always twice the small blind.
2. Guess and bet. Everyone writes their estimate face down on a slip of paper. Then you bet like in poker: fold, call, raise.
3. Hint 1 and hint 2. Both narrow the range, and each hint is followed by another betting round. Whoever knows nothing bluffs or folds.
4. Reveal and showdown. The app reveals the number. Whoever is closest takes the pot – unless everyone else folded first. Then the bluff wins.

This is not a mobile game for a solo commute. It is a prop for an evening where two to eight people sit around a table. You can tell from a handful of decisions:

• The reveal is readable from a metre away. The number takes up half the screen so the person on the far side of the table sees it too.
• The screen stays on while a question is open. A display that dims mid-betting-round is the fastest way to kill the momentum.
• The light level shows progress. Each revealed step brightens the background – the structure of the game is the animation.
• One screen, one job. Whatever is not needed right now is not on screen. No menus, no banners, no counters.
• Dark instead of bright. In a dimly lit room, a white screen blinds the whole table.

More Than 430 Questions in 18 Categories

The app ships with several hundred reviewed estimation questions across 18 categories – geography, sport, music and all the numbers nobody ever guesses right. The typical question is the kind everyone laughs at first and then starts doing maths on: how many different varieties are in a box of "Celebrations"? How much alcohol does the strongest beer in the world contain?

Three Tips for Your First Evening With the App

Agree on a prize before the first question. Chips with nothing behind them are just plastic. The pizza bill, five euros per person in the pot or a trophy that travels is enough – what matters is that a bad call costs something.

Pick your categories up front. A round made entirely of sport questions is not a game for half the group. Two minutes of setup in the app saves you three annoyed players.
